Wanderers from Svartalfheim
Update 1.13
Along with Season 4, the game introduces runes - a new way for the immortals to become even more powerful and prepare for future challenges and battles.
Runes are a new mechanic that affects the entire gameplay. Runes will allow you to emphasize the strengths of your favorite classes and mitigate their weaknesses.
You can interact with runes - put them into special slots, improve them, get rid of the ones you no longer need - in the rune inventory. You can find it in the class selection menu.
You can use runes to increase your HP or damage, get the ability to reflect the incoming damage, ignore a certain amount of enemy’s armor points, and so much more!
The total effect of the runes depends on two factors. The first one is the number of runes of the same type inserted in class slots, and the second one is the level of each rune. To put it simply, the higher the numbers, the larger the bonus!
By the way, if you don’t have enough rune slots, we recommend you to put more effort into developing your district in New Heim - higher district levels will unlock more rune slots to use.
To obtain runes, you need to keep opening chests throughout Midgard, especially in orange and red PvP locations and tombs. And you should definitely head to the place where no one has set foot in a very long time - north, beyond the Jötunheim Gates.
But keep in mind that whole runes are a rare catch. In most cases, you will be finding rune shards. But don’t get too upset just yet!
Igo, a dwarf from Baldr's Cliffs, is very interested in such shards. He is willing to give you one random level I rune for every ten of those. And who knows, maybe someday, he will teach you to make runes out of shards on your own.
The runes’ power is not only in numbers but also in their level. You can increase the rune level by merging two runes of the same type and level. You can do that in the rune inventory.
Currently, the maximum level is III, but it’s just the beginning!
Igo the dwarf and his brother Tugo are the main characters of the new season. Bring rune shards to Igo in Baldr's Cliffs and resources to Tugo in Giants' Forest and get season points. But don’t forget that Giants' Forest is a PvP Zone, so be wary of other players and possible ambushes when completing Tugo’s tasks!
The main season reward is the new class - “Alchemist”. They use medium armor and they are meant for fighting other players. When attacking enemies with flasks, the Alchemist slows the target. Also, the Alchemist is a master of long throws. They can enter a state when the range of their attack increases dramatically while their damage decreases.
The Alchemist can remove slowdown effects at any moment to heal themselves and increase their moving speed. That ability is very useful for a quick retreat or a quick position change during a battle.
The Alchemist is a time-limited Season 4 exclusive. It means that you can open that class in update 1.13 only through season rewards. But if for some reason you can’t participate in season activities, don’t worry! You’ll be able to unlock the Alchemist in future updates the usual way.
A new class is not the only season reward that is worth mentioning - dwarf travelers brought many other valuable gifts as well!
The Magician’s light armor pack and two staffs, perfectly matched with it. Thor's Staff has a chance of hitting a group of enemies with chain lightning, whereas Healing Staff can apply chain healing on your allies.
Mounts gained some new features as well. Armored Lynx doesn’t just look more dangerous and formidable than others of its kind - the armor also allows it to withstand more damage.
Much like the Alchemist, Armored Lynx is this season’s time-limited exclusive. You will get a chance to obtain it in the upcoming updates when exchanging mounts in the New Heim stable.
Previous season mounts “suffered” the same fate, so don’t forget to visit the stable owner and try your luck at getting a boar, fox, or lynx!
This update also introduces a few small, but important changes to the game balance. From now on, when you perform a stealth attack, the opponent player gets 2 seconds of immunity to such attacks. That change is intended to prevent chains of stealth attacks, which victims often have no way of counteracting in PvP.
Berserk Rage now increases the incoming damage instead of reducing your armor, as was previously the case. Berserk Potion underwent the same changes.
We intend to put even more focus on the in-game balance in future updates. In particular, we’ll introduce major changes to the classes balance.
And don’t forget to drop by the updated in-game store. Its design was heavily revised and there are now two new categories in the tabs: “Runes” and “Bargain”.
We wish you every success in polishing your rune mastery skills, immortals! May Odin be with you!
